Manushi Chhillar became 6th Indian and first after Priyanka Chopra; who won the title in 2000

Indian beauty, Manushi Chhillar won the Miss World 2017.

Competing with 108 women from across the world, she became the sixth Indian ever to hold the prestigious title.

The winner of last year’s title, Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle has passed on her crown to Ms Chhillar.manushi-chhillar-miss-world-2017

Stephanie Hill, who is Miss England was the second runner up and Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was first runner up.

Ms Chhillar, a 20-year-old from Haryana, studied in St. Thomas School in New Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat.

Chhillar was born to doctor parents in Haryana. Her father, Dr. Mitra Basu Chhillar, is a scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation, while her mother, Dr. Neelam Chhillar, is an associate professor and department head of neurochemistry at the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer, and has trained under legendary dancers Raja and Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy. Chhillar has also attended the National School of Drama.

On 25 June 2017, Chhillar took part in the Femina Miss India 2017 competition, representing the state of Haryana. During the competition, Chhillar was crowned Miss Photogenic, and went on to win the competition as well, earning the right to represent India at the Miss World 2017 competition.

Before her Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mukhi (1999) and Priyanka Chopra (2000) won Miss World title for India.

She is the second youngest after Priyanka Chopra to win the title for India.  Priyanka was 18 years old when she won the title.
